A letter from Executive Director Sue Fort White
2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Our Kids.
In 1987, six brave, scrappy women were determined to address the unique needs of children and families affected by child sexual abuse, and Our Kids was born. Originally, Our Kids was located in one room at General Hospital. By 1996, we were evaluating 600 children annually, and now that number totals more than 800 each year.
Today, we provide 24/7 coverage to 47 counties in Middle Tennessee, making Our Kids one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country.
To celebrate this milestone, we want to take the time to celebrate the people and organizations that helped us get here. In three decades, we have treated 24,000 children, and that is only possible because of our supporters.
To honor them and to illuminate the unique, inspiring reasons people choose to support Our Kids, we will be featuring their stories here over the course of 2017. It is humbling to think of how many loyal individuals and companies have supported us over the years, and we hope you will enjoy learning more about them.
We also invite you to see some of our most significant milestones on the timeline below.
My heart is filled with gratitude for those who have served Our Kids with vision, dedication and passion for the past 30 years.
It’s together that we stand tall for every child in Middle Tennessee.
Bless, keep and protect,
Sue Fort White
