New Nashville Initiative to Combat Child Sexual Abuse

Screen Shot 2014-04-01 at 3.18.03 PMLast year in Nashville, there were 1074 allegations of child sexual abuse reported to the Department of Children’s Services. Research suggests that 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before they turn 18.

A new educational initiative in Davidson County, sponsored by Our Kids and six other local non-profits that support the protection of children, will be announced on April 15. As part of The Nashville Child Protection Coalition, in partnership with The HCA Foundation and The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial, we will talk with the community about how to prevent, recognize and respond to child sexual abuse through a specialized training program – Stewards of Children.
